We wanted to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude for your support of Bateau during the challenging times brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Your patronage has meant a lot to us and has helped us keep our doors open and our team members employed. We initially shut down in March 2020, assuming it would only be for a few weeks, but that closure then turned into several months & then several years.
As a small business owner, it was an incredibly difficult time, but knowing that we had customers like you who believe in what we do, made all the difference for us.
So here we are, now thrilled to be celebrating our upcoming 10-year anniversary in May and wanted to share some fun DETAILS about Bateau.
Did you know:
* Our salon is owned and managed by women
* All of the interior wood used to build the salon is from natural fallen wood from Arborica/Evan Shively in Petaluma, Ca. (https://www.arborica.com)
* Our reception area chairs all came from the SF Davies Symphony Hall
* The walls are lined with felt panels in order to sound proof & insulate the space
* The shape of our beautiful reception desk is the same as our logo and the wooden outdoor hanging sign
* All of the architecture in the interior salon was created by interior designer Maxime Genauzeau of DMGDesignsSF. You will see reflections of his work if you visit other restaurants/bars in SF, NY, & DC. (DMGDesignsSF.com)
* Our boutique store, located in the back area of the salon, is filled with unique, local & international, hand-crafted products & gifts
* We have a rotating gallery exposing different artist’s work throughout the year, which we are reigniting now
* We support local artists & other small businesses by showcasing their work & products, such as Minori (@minoribeauty), Isa Alex (@isa.alex.skincare),
and Blueberry Jewelry (@blueberryjewelry02)
* We host education classes for our stylists as well as hosting various traveling hairstylists from out of town - LA & NY
So once again, thank you for your support during this challenging time. We “hung on” and appreciate your ongoing support.
Come in and say “hi” and shop – and have a shot of whiskey or a cuppa tea!
